Oatmeal in the cookie jar

Hi Everyone,

rn

Hope all of you are well this morning.

rn

I made oatmeal this morning.  I made two helpings, and probably DH will have a bowl.  I bought a huge bag of oatmeal at Sam’s club.  I thought how am I going to store this?  I wanted it to be available to be used easily.  I have a huge cookie jar, that I filled with treats for my grandchildren.  The treats were about gone, so I decided to use it for the oatmeal.  Having it in it’s own container is a great help.  The other cereals take up space, but get used, but the oatmeal seems to be like the fish and bread on the desert, it is plentiful.  lol

rn

Yesterday DH and I walked two miles.  I am so happy that Spring is here.  Today I am going to do my 30 minutes on the bike, and the ab-doer.

rn

Also I am preparing for a new grandchild.  As soon as I find out what the gender is going to be I will be either making or buying a bassinette layette.  I got the bassinette from craigslist.org , and it is really nice.  They have such beautiful things for babies now.  I just went to a shower a couple of weeks ago, and the gifts were gorgeous.  The girl is married to my nephew, and she is having twin girls.  The gifts were mostly in pink.

rn

Today I am preparing to go freecycling.  I will make my maps, and when DH is fishing I will be out hunting for cute things for my new grandchild.

rn

Everyone take care.

Busy weekend

Hi Everyone,

rn

Yesterday was busy for me.  DH went fishing, and I went a hundred and eighty mile round trip ride.  I belong to a freecycle group, and I also read craigslist.com  So yesterday I picked up 34 scarves, and jewelry that someone was giving away.  Also in the vicinity was used designer maternity clothes for sale.

rn

I have a couple of scarves, and love to wear them, but would never invest in that many.  When I saw the scarves on freecycle I thought it would be worth the trip to get them.

rn

My daughter is having a baby, and when I saw these  clothes advertised on craigslist I thought it was a pretty good deal. They were really nice, and had a lot of good color, and very clean.  I brought them home and washed them last night, and ironed them today.  The girl that sold them was exactly the same size as my daughter.

rn

I had forgotten that I had volunteered to work at the senior citizen center so I really had a busy day.  I left the house at 8:30 AM,  and didn’t get back until 2:30 PM, and then I had to get ready to go to the senior center.  They needed someone to bus tables.  So I did that for an hour and a half.

rn

When I got home I cleaned the costume jewelry that came with the scarves.  The girl that gave me all this got the scarves and jewelry given to her from a new 4 you shop.  The jewelry was needing cleaned.  I put a mixture of amonia, water, and soap, and it took about an hour cleaning all that stuff.  They turned out good.

rn

I have been buying clothes that are size large, and my husband has been telling me that they are too big.  The mediums look so small, but I may be getting into them in awhile.

rn

I lost two pounds this week.  I couldn’t believe it, because I have been the exact same weight for awhile now.

rn

All of you have a great weekend.  Take care.

Spring & moods

Hi Everyone,

rn

Unless something really bad happens I am generally in a great mood most of the time.  I wake up happy; can’t help it.

rn

In the winter I am not unhappy, but I am not as busy as I am in the spring.  My favorite seasons are spring and fall.  With spring coming I feel energized just thinking of it.  I feel my resolve to begin anew the weight loss program.  I have been stuck on the plateau so long, as one of our buddies said, I am going to put a zip code on it.

rn

Anyway I am going to treat my body like a science project.  I am going to continue to measure every thing that goes in.  I usually measure pretty much down to the ounce.  I am going to continue to read my weight loss books, and cookbooks, and a new me is going to emerge.

rn

I feel determination running through my veins!  lol

rn

Hope all of you have a great day!  Take care.

Portions

Hi Everyone,

rn

I received an e-mail about portions, and it had a plate divided into four portions.  One half was two vegetables, one portion grain or potato, and the other protein.  I pointed the mouse to it, and put it on as background on my computer.  Now I have a daily reminder of what is a portion, and what is in a portion.

rn

I am going to work more vegetables into my diet.  I love vegetables, but I know that I don’t eat enough of them.

rn

Hope all of you are well.  You are all going to reach your goals.  Thanks for reading my blog.  Take care.

Some progress

Good morning everyone!

rn

I was up bright and early this morning due to catching a little cold.  I feel happy that DH wants to watch his chocolate and goodie intake.  We have our chocolate candy in the garage, which keeps it away from me, and impulse eating.  Last night DH said that having the candy in the garage really is a big help for him.  He just takes a portion now rather than sit and devour the whole bag of candy.  I am happy because I very rarely want any, and if I do I have to put my coat on go across the yard, and unlock the garage, and get some.  I have time to make a decision of whether I want it or not, and how much do I want, or do I.

rn

I have made some changes, but nothing appears to be changing, but I feel a lot better even with only 16 pounds off of me since last year.  Sixteen pounds of fat is a lot of weight to get rid of for a person my size.

rn

I remember sitting at my computer last year, when I saw an ad by Dr. Marc saying do you want to lose some weight?  This was a turning point for me.

rn

I was watching a Dr. on TV showing a picture of actural fat compared to muscle he had them in his hand as a visual aid.  Wow, what a lot of space fat takes up compared to muscle.

rn

Slowly but surely I am going to keep up my healthy lifestyle!

rn

You can too!  Good luck to all of you!

Working on plan

Hi Everyone,

rn

Today DH is fishing with his brother all day, and I am going to do some grocery shopping alone.  There are some advantages of being left alone all day; now I can plan on buying groceries, and plan a healthy menu.

rn

Yesterday we went to lunch at the senior center, and when I was there I told them to give me half of what they were going to give me.  I didn’t eat the cake, or biscuit.  Later in the day I did have cookies, but they were girl scout cookies.  Smaller than what showed up in the food journal, but didn’t know what category to put them in.  I’d rather overestimate, than underestimate.  Also I had about 10 potato chips, which I don’t know if that is an ounce or not. I kept within the calorie range, but after my shopping trip I will have the foods I need to stay on track.

rn

The weather is supposed to be in the 70’s!

rn

All of you take care, and have a great day!

A little change

Hi Everyone,

rn

Today I have decided to switch from skim milk to soy milk for awhile.  I have been slowly making a change lately, and trying different things.

rn

I have been having a glass of wine a day, that is supposed to lower cholesterol and triglycerides, and I am going to change to grape juice, which is supposed to have the same benefits for the heart as wine.  I have a few more glasses left of my wine, and then I am going to try grape juice.

rn

Today I am going to my daughter-in-laws birthday party so I will catch up with your blogs later.  Take care.  Hope all of you have a great weekend.

Goodnight!

Hi Everyone,

rn

Today the sun was shining, and even though the day was 25 degrees out this morning, it seemed warmer.

rn

I got the computer glasses, and they seem to be helping a lot.  My vision is good, but my eyes get tired when I use the computer.  I thought it would be a good idea to protect my eyes since I was assigned only one pair.  lol

rn

My youngest daughter is going to have a baby!  She is pretty sick right now, and since she is a chiropractor she had to cut back her hours.  She is really having morning sickness bad right now.  Her husband is taking over some of her hours.  She is sick most of the day, but feels better by 1:00 PM.

rn

My other daughter, who is waiting for a transplant brought some food to my youngest daughter at her office.  I thought that was so sweet.

rn

I am tired, and going to get ready for bed.  Goodnight.

rn

All of you are going to reach your goals!  Take care.

Coffee maker died! Oh no

Hi Everyone,

rn

This morning the old coffee pot died; nothing could revive it.  My DH worked on it for quite awhile.  At first we thought it may be just clogged up, and ran vinegar through it.  Hours later we finally gave up, and I ordered a coffee pot on-line.  I went to pricegrabber.com, and I think I got a pretty good price for an under the counter coffee pot.

rn

I feel my resolve to keep to my healthy eating regimen coming back.  DH likes to fish or hunt, etc, at least once a week, and during that time I think that I will go shopping without him.  The junk food is making it’s way slowly, but surely back into the house.  I asked him if it helped him to have the junk food in the garage, and he said, immensely.  So the next step is doing what is advised in some books on eating healthy, and that is don’t shop with kids, or spouses.

rn

We went to dinner on Saturday, and I had a senior meal, that had 4 ounces of chicken breast without skin, cottage cheese, corn, and applesauce.  When we were ordering DH said, “ And I will have a butterscotch pie to go.  That night I thought I will have just one piece, and that will be it.  He brought me a dinner plate with a quarter of a pie on it.  I skipped supper that night, and just had the pie, and kept within my calorie limits.  After that I told him I am not having any more of the pie, and he would have to eat it himself.  He loves butterscotch pie, so that is not a problem.

rn

All of you have a great day!

Same old story

Hi Everyone,

rn

Yesterday I went to dinner with DH, and it was really nice.  I had a nice talk to him about how I really would appreciate him helping me.  He listened, and I thought maybe I got through this time.  He wants me to be in shape, but brings a lot of junk food into the house.  I told him I can do this, but I need help in not having the junk food around.

rn

So we went shopping, and when we were going through the checkout lane he put three packages of cookies, and chocolate kisses into the cart.  I said I can’t have this in the house.  He said I will keep them in the garage.  I have heard that before, and they always end up in the house.  I said, “This will help us both, because we can get portions, and work it into watching what we are eating.”  When the junk food is in the house it is so easy to pick-up a cookie here and there, and before you know it the healthy eating regimin is down the tubes.
