Food and cholesterol

Hi Everyone,

rn

I am happy to say that I got the HDL and LDL ratios to a much better level, and I still have to work on the total cholesterol level.  I am borderline, and so I have to get the total level down in order not to have to be on medication.

rn

I made a huge crockpot of soup, which I think will help me lose weight, and lower my cholesterol.

rn

I got my blood test readings first thing this morning, and I made my weight loss soup.  I have enough to feed an army so I am going to have that soup every day.

rn

My triglycerides are also up, and so I have to stay away from sweets.  Alcohol is also bad for triglycerides so I guess my 3 1/2 ounces a day is going to be cut also.  Wine in moderation is supposed to be good for the heart?

rn

Eating the right things will lead to lower weight, and good cholesterol readings.

rn

Good luck to all of you.  Take care.

Goodnight!

Hi Everyone,

rn

The weather has been beautiful, and I need to get to the grocery store.  When I need to get to the store I start eating funny.  lol

rn

I am going to load up on fruits, that helps me a lot when I am trying to eat healthier.

rn

All of you take care of yourselves.

Great lunch!

Hi Everyone,

rn

Tomorrow DH is coming home from a week and a half  trip to Florida.  I had a bad headcold, and was happy to be alone this past week.  Today I was feeling much better, and took myself to lunch at the new restaurant nearby.

rn

I am watching my cholesteral, and asked for a low calorie meal, and they made me blackened chicken, and vegetables julienne.  They had classical music playing during lunch.  I was the only customer in the place.  Wow what a treat!

rn

Spices, and presentation make simple foods seem elegant.  I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of that meal, and it only cost $6.31.

rn

I set the table every day with a pretty place mat, and try to make my dinners special even if there is only me.

rn

I am planning on either biking or walking; I haven’t decided which one I want to do yet.  The weather is beautiful, and I do feel like a two mile walk.

rn

All of  you have a great day!

Nearing mini-goal!

Hi Everyone,

rn

Slowly but surely I am nearing my mini-goal.  I feel so positive about this weight loss, and feel that it is going to be permanent.

rn

I think I will get rid of more of my clothes, that is how positive I am that I am not going to regain this weight!  Yea me!

rn

Coming here everyday has kept me focused, and positive.

rn

Good luck to all of you!  Have a great day!

About Bees

Hi Everyone,

rn

I have been thinking about why the bees are dying off.  I think it may be because the trees that the bees are supposed to pollinate, are sprayed to keep insect damage down. Bees are insects, and they would naturally be affected by the insecticide.

rn

Chicken is on sale this week at our local grocery store.  I wonder how safe it is to eat it?

rn

I have a cold this week, and I feel like I have slowed down.  My blood pressure is up, even though I exercise, and eat right.  I think that I am being affected by my sister-in-laws passing, and the other sister-in-law I am waiting to hear how she is doing.  She just got diagnosed with cancer of the lung.  She has been smoking since she was 18 years old.  The spot is the size of a dime, and if she passed the breathing test she is going to be operated on.  She had the test today, and the doctor hasn’t gotten back to her about whether or not she passed the breathing test.

rn

The weather has been cooler here, we had a thunder storm yesterday that I could feel the vibrations of through the floor.  Right after that my cable went out for the computer, telephone, and television.  I had tapes of Shindlers’ List so I watched that while the cable was out.  That movie was really though provoking.  I had watched the shorter version before on television, but the one on tape seemed more detailed.  Perhaps it wasn’t, but I think you get more out of watching a movie, when you don’t have commercials every five minutes.

rn

My daughter called me today, and was very upset.  She is my youngest, and 18 weeks pregnant.  The office right by her installed carpeting, and is using glue to put it down.  She is afraid of the carcinogens in the new carpet and glue.  She came home from work because she didn’t want to breathe in the toxins.  She ordered an air cleaner with a hepa filter.  I wonder if that will be enough protection for the baby?  I put fetus and environmental carcinogens in the search engine, and there was a lot of information about damage to a fetus from carpeting.

rn

All of you have a great weekend!  Take care of yourselves.

Check-up

Hi Everyone,

rn

I went for a check-up.  I call them my “tuneups”  lol  I took the results of the multi-phasic blood tests with me, and a blood test that I had done at a health fair.  I wrote a list of questions so that I would remember them, and when the Doctor came in the answered each one and checked them off.  Doing that saves her time, and me.

rn

This morning I woke up early, and rode my bike for 30 minutes, and fasted for the blood test.  My doctor ordered a blood test for me, and I had already fasted so I could get it right then, and not come back.  Pat myself on the back for effiencency!  lol

rn

My brother-in-law, who lost his wife, is going back to Chicago.  He is dreading being alone in the house.  He has never lived by himself before.

rn

All of you have a great evening, and take care of yourselves!

Just Hi!

Hi Everyone,

rn

I have been very busy traveling, because of my sister-in-laws funeral.  Although we were away I used the exercise bike at the hotel we were in, and exercised on my bike when I came home.  Today I walked two miles.  I have a pedometer that says I walked 10,410 steps today.

rn

I am really tired tonight, so this is all I am going to write.

rn

Good luck to all you, and may all of you reach your goals shortly.

Rotisserie

Hi Everyone,

rn

Today I bought a rotisserie.  I thought that it may be a healthier way to cook, and I thought I would try it. The rotisserie was used so it didn’t come with an instruction tape.  I never used a rotisserie, and I have a lot to learn.  Luckily I found a site that had an owners manual, that I could run off.

rn

My husband said that I eat so much chicken that I was going to start looking like one.  lol  I saw that 20,000 chickens are held, because of what food they may have eaten.  I was thinking here I am trying to eat healthy, and maybe eating chicken isn’t good with what they are feeding the chickens.  Just a thought.

rn

Later on in the day I bought a used chain saw for my husband for an early fathers’ day present.  We have trees growing right up against the house, that are determined to grow no matter what.  Last year my husband had to use a hand saw,  and it took him hours to cut them down.  This year they are huge again.  He was so happy to get the chainsaw.

rn

While I was getting the rotisserie, and the chain saw, my husband was golfing with my son.  I had gone quite a distance to get the items since I bought them used.  On my way home I called my husband, and he said it would be a couple of more hours before he was done.  So I decided to take myself to dinner.  I passed “many”,  junk food places.  I was thinking to myself aren’t there any restaurants that cook healthy food?  I  finally found a great buffet.  I got the mothers’ day special.  I got one plate, and put fruit, fish, vegetables, one roll on it.  I had water with it.  When I was finished with the one plate of food I left.

rn

I got home and cleaned up the rotisserie, and ordered parts that would help it perform better.  My husband used the saw, and it worked really well.

rn

Later on in the evening when we were just about finishing up our day we got a call from my brother-in-law, and he said my sister-in-law had just passed away.  We cried, and then called everyone that needed to know.

rn

I am really so very very sad that she is gone, but happy that she isn’t in pain anymore.

rn

Wishing all of you the best of everything, and health!  Take care of yourselves; you are worth it!

Good night!

Hi Everyone,

rn

I just want to say that all of you are incredible.  All of you are special.

rn

Life is so fragile.  Last week my nephew and his wife had baby twin girls.  The second set of twins in our family in a year.

rn

This week my brother-in-law called to say that his wife who was battling cancer may be gone soon.  She is about the same age as my sister was.  Two years ago my youngest sister died of cancer, and now my sister-in-law is also dying of cancer.  My sister-in-law got diagnosed with cancer a week before my sister did.

rn

Now I have heard that another sister-in-law has a spot on her lung, and she and her husband are hoping it is pneumonia.  The doctor took a blood test, and he said it leans toward cancer.

rn

All of you give yourself a lot of credit for taking such good care of yourselves.  You are all doing a great job.

rn

Many things in our lives that we worry about are small potatoes, when you think of the “big picture.”   The big picture is your priorities.  The important people in your life.

rn

All of you take care.
